GARNETT — The Garnett Community-Wide Garage Sale is Saturday. And for those unsold items, the spring city-wide clean-up begins next Monday. City crews will pick up brush, leaves and lawn clippings, paper, appliances, metal and furniture for free. They will start on the north end of town and proceed south until they’ve covered the town. Open burning also is allowed April 16-24, weather permitting. The event also coincides with free dumping days at the Anderson County landfill. City manager Joyce Martin said the city began the city-wide clean-up week 30 years ago as a beautification project. However, city commissioners will evaluate future clean-up weeks in light city budget problems.
