OTTAWA — 2010 Ottawa High School graduate Abby Guenther has been named as a Kansas Points of Light Award winner for outstanding volunteer service. Gov. Sam Brownback personally congratulated her. Guenther has been a member of the Ottawa Youth Action Council and student leader for Youth in Government. Ottawa Volunteer Center director Lisa Rivers nominated her for her work for helping pass Ottawa’s clean-indoor air ordinance, create the first annual Make a Difference Day at Ottawa High School, and Ottawa’s first public rain garden. Guenther is a freshman at Kansas State University.
