OTTAWA — Ottawa police continue to work being accredited by a national police group. Police Chief Dennis Butler said there’s still lots of work to do before Ottawa even applies for accreditation. The department must do an extensive amount of administrative detail and review its policies and procedures for what will be a two-year process, he said. Butler says meeting accreditation standards will make the Ottawa department a better and more effective department.
