ANDERSON COUNTY — Anderson County attorney Brandon Jones agrees that $10,000 is a lot of money to spend on a desk.  However, he tells the Anderson County Review that he doesn’t agree with the controversy his new desk has created.  Jones recently bought a new desk and workstation with the permission of Anderson County Commissioners.  The Review reports that his purchase has annoyed some taxpayers, who have complained to the paper about the desk’s price tag.  Money for the furniture, as well as paint and carpet for the office came mostly from a “bad check” account the County Attorney’s office collects from fines for bad checks and from a capital outlay fund.  Jones, who is also Osage County attorney, successfully ran for election on the promise of making the County Attorney’s office more professional, which included remodeling the offices at the Anderson County Courthouse.  Jones says that people don’t realize the shape of the office when he took over.  He says the office was filled with trash and unopened boxes of computer parts and no desk.
