OSAWATOMIE — A 63-year-old Paola woman was taken to Miami County Medical center in Paola following a two-vehicle accident that closed the south-bound lanes of U.S. 169 just north of Osawatomie Wednesday morning. David Wells, Jr., 63,Oak Grove, Mo., was driving a semi-truck south in the right-hand lane of I-35 next to the Osawatomie State Hospital interchange when he hit a car driven by Kay Ufford from behind, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. The truck pushed her car into the left lane, and overturned and came to rest on the car. The truck driver wasn’t injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
