The Garnett Public Library has received a Collection Development Grant from the Southeast Kansas Library System. These grants are awarded to start new collections or upgrade defined areas of a collections. The library received a grant to enhance the Inspirational Fiction Books. This is an extremely high circulating genre in the Garnett Community, in fact, usage of books with this subject has tripled since 2018.
The grant will allow the library to serve their patrons quicker and more efficiently, by not having to borrow through the consortium as often. They say some of the authors are new to them. They also purchased replacement copies for some of the more ‘well loved’ favorites, as well as filling in missing titles in series. The library has a display of the books by the circulation desk, be sure and stop by to “check them out”.
