The 7th Judicial District Nominating Commission will convene at 8:30 tomorrow morning, August 31, to interview nominees to fill two District Judge positions. One position is created by Judge Kay Huff’s July 8 retirement. The other was among the District Court Judge positions certified by the passage of State Legislation to fund them.
Among those being interviewed are Judge pro-tem of the 7th District, Blake Glover of Baldwin City and Special Counsel from Hall and Evans LLC, Alice Craig also of Baldwin. The Nomination Commission will select three to five people whose names will be submitted to the Governor to fill those positions, according to Statutory Qualification and Residency Requirements.
The Governor has 60 days, after receiving the names, to decide whom to appoint. Interviews are open to the public. They will take place at the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center in Lawrence.
