Today, August 25th, marks the 84th anniversary of the release of the iconic film, “The Wizard of Oz”. We’ve all seen it.
The songs in the movie are favorites among people of all ages. But, did you know that maybe the most famous song in The Wizard of Oz, was almost cut from the movie? Ottawa City Band Director, Mark Pauquette explains:
Judy Garland, as Dorothy, sang the song. It has since been recorded by hundreds of different artists in all kinds of genres, from Willie Nelson, Liza Minnelli, Patti Labelle, Ariana Grande, Pink, Aerosmith and Hawaiian, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.. and to think, the song was close to never being released
