Last week, the Ottawa City Commission approved ordinances that will allow the keeping of chickens and bees in the city limits. Though it was approved, not all were 100% sure of the new policy. Commissioner Sara Caylor outlined her issues to the other commissioners:

Keeping those animals will require a permit, which will have to be renewed in March every year. It allows up to 5 chickens and three beehives with conditions applied to each. There were other questions about the language of the ordinance, but it was passed and officials say they will monitor the response from the public.
