The USD 290 School Board has a new member. Former Ottawa teacher Diedre Altic received 1,119 votes, the most of any of the candidates. Incumbents Julie Dandreo, Malydia Payne, and Harold Wingert were voted back onto the Board for another term. Altic says one thing she wants to do on the Board is to make better use of the Engage Program, a classroom at Eugene Field that is for students having issues in the regular classroom:
Altic will attend School Board Meetings and will be sworn in at the first meeting in January.
