An accident involving a USD 289 Wellsville bus Saturday morning, January 27th, could have been much worse. The bus carrying the Wellsville boys wrestling team and some other students was involved in a rollover accident on the way to the Fredonia wrestling tournament. According to reports, only one student was reported to have serious injuries and they were transported to a local hospital with a leg injury.
According to social media reports, students acted quickly and immediately began removing those who were pinned in and got them to safety, some kicking out windows to escape. No details about the crash were released; however, Superintendent Ryan Bradbury says he is thankful for law enforcement, school staff, the Fredonia school district and others who helped the students until help could arrive.
