As expected, Governor Kelly, vetoed the proposed flat tax legislation passed by both houses last week. Kelly says in a statement , she supports responsible tax cuts, but refuses to sign into law a reckless flat tax that would take us back to the Brownback tax problems and she reiterated what she said in her State of the State Address a couple weeks ago:
Senate President Ty Masterson and House Speaker, Dan Hawkins remain focused on delivering tax relief to all Kansans, despite Governor Kelly’s veto. A similar bill, vetoed last year, failed in an override attempt by only one vote. They believe they have the votes this year to override the Governor.
