Yesterday, February 1st, Ottawa High School announced their Winter Royalty candidates. Candidates include: for King…Sam Clevenger, Parker Guge, Jaxon Mourning and Aidan O’Neil. For Queen: Mackenzie Cunningham, Sara Orr, Ashlyn Powell and Laura Wingert. These students will be recognized and the winners will be crowned during halftime of the boys basketball game Friday, February 2nd.

The idea of a Sadie Hawkins dance originated in a comic strip called Li’l Abner, set in the town of Dogpatch, where the dad of a girl who didn’t catch a husband, gathered all the single men of Dogpatch and let the single women chase them, marrying whoever they caught. Probably no marrying going on now, but a lot of fun to say the least.
