Remember riding the carousel as a little kid? The music, the sensations and the intricately painted horses and other animals? Well, animal rights organization, PETA is trying to end those memories and has urged the largest amusement ride manufacturer in Kansas to end the production and sale of animal-themed carousels. The letter stated that “children learn through play, and teaching them to have respect and compassion for all living, feeling beings can help create a more just and merciful world,” and that animal-themed merry-go-rounds celebrate exploitation.
Kansas Congressman Jake LaTurner respond to PETA’s letter, stating that extreme liberal activists have nothing better to do than attack small businesses and wage war on merry-go-rounds. He says it’s absolutely ridiculous and could not be more out of touch with Kansans. Laturner says. PETA should be ashamed and embarrassed.
