Kansas City Police Chief, Stacey Graves said Thursday, February 15th, the shooting that left 22 people with gunshot wounds and a woman dead, started as a dispute between several people at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade and rally. Kansas City leaders and police continue working today to sort through evidence in Wednesday’s shooting at Union Station that left one woman dead, and at least 22 others with gunshot wounds. KC radio dj Lisa Lopez died at the scene.

Detectives are in the process of developing formal charges that will be presented to the Jackson County prosecutor today.

Graves thanked bystanders who tackled one of the suspects as he ran from the scene and secured the weapon he dropped at the time. Police are asking that anyone with video from the incident to contact them immediately to help with the investigation. We know there were quite a few people from Ottawa and the surrounding area in the crowd with their children, one of which says a shooting victim fell about 15 feet in front of them. Another saying the shooting took place in front of him. We are thankful you all are safe.

A bigger thank you to all the first responders that rushed directly into the danger to help the injured and possibly save others from being injured.
