The fifty-four year-old Overland Park man accused last summer of shooting and killing a 43-year-old Edgerton man at Hillsdale State Park is claiming it was self-defense, and a jury trial is being scheduled. Brian Meysenburg was arrested and booked into Miami County Jail on June 20, 2023, after one person was shot and killed and another was stabbed at Hillsdale State Park. His official arraignment was held on February 6th. A jury trial status hearing will be held on March 8th.
Meysenburg, of Overland Park, was charged with murder in the first degree following an incident at Hillsdale Lake in June of 2023. The Miami County Sheriff’s office says that around 12:15 the morning of June 20th, law enforcement officials were called to the Pintail Point Campground with reports of a stabbing and a shooting. When they arrived, they found 43-year-old Bryan Hendrickson, of Edgerton, with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
