On a highway ramp in Kansas early Tuesday morning, February 27th, deputies, along with Miami County EMS and Fire District #1 of Johnson County, responded to a medical call of a birth in progress on the ramp of 169 Highway and 255th Street. The initial call indicated that the baby may not be breathing. However, when deputies arrived, they were met with a father who had just delivered his baby in the front seat of their vehicle. The initial conversation went like this:
While on scene, deputies provided and helped the mother and father use medical equipment as Johnson County Emergency Communications Center provided life saving instructions until EMS and fire personnel arrived to take over.
