The Lawrence homicide suspect police were looking for yesterday, March 7th, was arrested last night in Topeka. Lawrence Police Chief Rich Lockhart says that Dawson Paine was arrested about 2:40 yesterday afternoon. He was wanted in the shooting death of 18-year-old David Kerr. The shooting took place just after 10:30 Tuesday night, in the 2900 block of Crestview in Lawrence. Lawrence Kansas Police Department officials thank the Topeka Police Department for their extensive assistance in this investigation.
A violent couple of days in Lawrence, as another homicide occurred Wednesday afternoon, March 13. That happened in the 700 block of Vermont, across the street from the Lawrence Public Library, killing 39-year-old Vincent Walker. Nicholas Beaver was arrested shortly after and charged with second degree murder.
