With Severe Weather Awareness Week last week, many across Kansas have made plans for the arrival of storm season. While you should certainly prepare your home and family for the risk of severe weather, do not overlook your insurance policies in your preparation. If you have not checked in with your agent or reviewed your policies recently, you could be underinsured and not know it. Kansas Insurance Commissioner, Vickie Schmidt, says you want to make sure you are not underinsured in case of a weather related disaster.

She recommends you have your agent review your coverage yearly, and consider your car insurance as well, because hail and tree damage can take a toll on your wallet if not insured properly. She also suggest shopping around for better coverage plans, premiums, and any discounts you may be eligible for. Make sure your insurance can weather the storm.
