Law enforcement officials say one of the biggest scams is the “grandparent scam” where a caller, claiming to be a grandson or daughter, will request money to get out of jail. One suggested solution is to have a family code word known only to the extended family and if the caller cannot give the code word, then it’s almost certainly a scam.
