More information coming out about the chase and shooting that Franklin County Deputies were involved in lasT week. Two men have been identified and charged in the case. The initial driver of the vehicle, 55-year-old Frank Rinderknech of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been charged with unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and speeding. He was issued a $500,000 cash or surety.

The driver during the pursuit and shooting is 43-year-old Carlos Montano Diaz, of Cedar Rapids. He was charged with unlawful distribution of methamphetamine, fleeing and eluding a police officer. He has no bond. The Northeast Kansas Drug Task Force is investigating the shooting portion of the incident. Formal charges in Johnson County are still pending against Montano Diaz for the shooting. A case alleging aggravated assault and felony interference with law enforcement has been forwarded to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office for review.
