A lot of good things will be happening in the Garnett community in the next year. City Manager Travis Wilson says the Maple Street Project will be complete this spring as the final stage of the project is the mill and overlay. He says other projects include a mill and overlay from 3rd Avenue west of Maple Street. Also, there is a significant sidewalk project planned along Park Road beginning at the corner of Oak to Country Club Lane. They are also replacing the sidewalks in front of the rec center. One project that has already begun is the installation of new scoreboards at the sports complex and the recreation center. Also, the plan is to purchase and install two new enclosures to help power grid reliability and keep working with Evergy on updating electric feeds into Garnett.
Other projects already started are lead and copper water line replacement, gas line upgrades from low pressure to high pressure, a lease program for cardio equipment for the rec center, repairs to the Santa Fe Depot, continuing phases of the airport project, wastewater line project and the water treatment plant.
