A Baldwin City man has been convicted of child endangerment charges. Twenty eight-year-old Lukas Armstrong entered a no contest plea on two counts of aggravated child endangerment stemming from a case from September of 2019. The investigation began after the Lawrence Kansas Police Department was alerted by Children’s Mercy Hospital in Overland Park about a two-year-old child with injuries consistent with abuse. Findings from the child’s exam were reported as being indicative of violent child abuse. At that time, Armstrong was the boyfriend of the child’s mother and had been caring for the child.

Douglas County Attorney Susanne Valdez stressed the importance of vigilance and support for the recovery of affected children, and justice served, citing that the conviction coincides with National Child Abuse Awareness Month. Sentencing will be June 2nd at 3:00 at the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center.
