Yesterday, September 8th, marked the 5th anniversary of Legacy Square. The area from First and Walnut to Second and Walnut was transformed from an empty lot to a highly usable space, from donations from a variety of businesses, organizations, and individuals who gave money, product and time. The name was officially announced June 19th of 2018 at a kick-off event held at the Bottle House, by Lonnie King of Image Resource Group, a local employer and parent company of Fashion Incorporated. Construction began that year and King spoke at the dedication September 6th of 2019:

Total cost of the project was $4.3 million, all privately donated, $2.3 million from Fashion, Inc. alone. An anniversary celebration was held last night, September 8th, at Legacy Square for all the donors and investors in the project.
