Another house fire in miami county caused extensive damage to a home north of Louisburg on the morning of Friday, December 27th, but no injuries were reported.

According to Miami County Emergency Management Coordinator, Mark Whalen, a resident of the home at 4925 W. 215th St. Called 911 just before 8:00 that morning reporting smoke and fire in the house. Units were dispatched from Louisburg, Paola and Overland Park Fire Departments, along with Miami County Emergency Medical Services and the Miami County Sheriff’s office. The first firefighter arrived at 7:59 a.m. and reported a working fire. The first Overland Park engine arrived at 8:08 and the first Louisburg engine arrived at 8:12. Additional units were requested from Osawatomie, Overland Park, Johnson County Fire District No. 1, Western Cass Fire Protection District and Dolan-West Dolan Fire Protection District.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Whelan says there is nothing suspicious. He says a very preliminary damage estimate is $1.5 to $1.7 million.
