With the winter storm approaching, with snow and extreme cold some people, despite being encouraged not to be, will be on the road. Being safe and aware of where you are is crucial in case of an emergency, and three little words could save your life in the event of an emergency, such as being stranded in an area you are not familiar with. Franklin County Emergency Management Director Thomas Winter explains that “What 3 Words” is an app you can download:
It’s simple to use. First download the app. Once you open it, the GPS will locate you on a map. Tap the arrow and the three words for your location will display at the top of the screen. Read the three words to dispatch and they will track you to within 10 feet of your location. Make sure to download it…just in case.
