There always seems to be a lot of critics on social media that voice their concerns about city officials and how city government spends, or doesn’t spend, taxpayer money. Want to do something about it? Interested in being more involved? Maybe run for City Commission? The City of Ottawa is encouraging those interested in being part of the commission and have put out a video explaining the process. Here is a short exert:
The City Commission has five members and in a general election, two commissioners are elected to four-year terms and one elected to a two year term. Those receiving the highest amount of votes fill the four-year seats, the next highest receives a two-year term.
