The city of Osawatomie City Council approved the development of a pilot Trap-Neuter-Release Program, know as TNR with local animal rescue “Four Kids for Kritters”, which is led by area resident Eunice Mollett. This program allows the rescue, after notifying the neighborhood it’s working in, to trap feral cats and give them basic medical care, including rabies vaccinations and spaying or neutering. The cats are then released back into the same neighborhood with tipped ears to mark them as a TNR-treated cat.

Over time, TNR programs work to drastically reduce feral cat populations through consistent spaying and neutering, and limit the possibility of disease outbreaks among wild and domestic animals in communities.
