A major announcement from Kansas Congressman Jake LaTurner recently. He will not seek reelection. He says he is honored to have served the Kansas people in Washington; however, says serving in Congress has taken its toll on his family life and while his kids are still young and at home, he wants to be there more for them. LaTurner has served the state of Kansas since the age of 24, when he was sworn into the Kansas State Senate and the youngest statewide elected official in America when he was appointed as State Treasurer. LaTurner says it is time to spend more time at home with his wife, Suzanne and their four kids and it is time to pursue other opportunities.

He adds that there seems to be a lot of fear for the future in the country and some act as though the problems we face and the divisions that exist are insurmountable, but, he says that is not true. He says the dysfunction is distressing, but always has been and he is optimistic that the Nation can overcome all obstacles and the majority of the people he served with are good and trying to do the right thing.
