Recently, bird flu was diagnosed in dairy cattle for the first time. Seems little weird, doesn’t it, that a flu that effects birds can also effect cattle. Is our milk supply safe? Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack discusses some of the components of mandatory testing of dairy cattle for H5N1, high path avian influenza to allow interstate movement.

That’s the area of the dairy cattle that has been the focus of the industry over the past few weeks. He says they will inform producers that the USDA will pay for and cover the cost of testing animals in the National Animal Health Laboratory Network Laboratories.
