The Ottawa City Commission has proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. Commissioner Eric Crowley read the proclamation to those in attendance. Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner spoke on the support of the community and the importance of Court Appointed Special Advocates who support children in need who may have been abused:
CASA has been in existence for over 20 years. Their service covers the 4th Judicial District of Franklin, Osage, Anderson and Coffey Counties.
