Yesterday morning, April 26th, the Ottawa Special Tactics Rescue Team, along with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, executed a high risk search warrant in the 100 block of Warren Street in Williamsburg, in reference to a drug task force investigation. Several subjects were located in the residence and were detained. Sixty seven-year old John Powell, of Williamsburg refused to exit the home; however, after an extended period of time, he compiled without incident, and arrested for interference with law enforcement.

Due to the proximity to Williamsburg Elementary School, a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy was assigned to the school during the warrant execution. Sheriff Jeff Richards says at no time was there a threat to the school, nor was there any type of incident at the school. The deputy was there for safety purposes only and to prevent any type of incident, the school locked it’s doors. Richards says the manpower from the Ottawa Police Department and Johnson County allowed them to continue their fight against illegal street narcotics in a safe and responsible manner. No other details about the event were released.
