It’s hard to believe, but there are still parts of our great Nation where people don’t have easy access to fresh healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, but, there is a lot of work going on to change that. Deputy AG Secretary Xochitle Torres-Small:
Grants will be used by local organizations to do things like establishing new local markets, improve supply chains and offer local food retailer more fresh food for their customers.
Farmers don’t have to ship their foods hundreds of miles just to find buyers for them. It’s not known if any organizations in this area would receive those funds. Grant awards will be out in the next couple of weeks.
