Ottawa City Commissioners recognized all community action groups within the city of Ottawa by Proclamation. Commissioner Sarah Caylor read from the Proclamation, which declared May as Community Action Month in Ottawa:
Teresia Templeton, from ECKAN accepted the award and thanked commissioners for their support of, not only ECKAN, but all community action groups in the area.
A Community Action Group brings people together to take action on issues that affect their community. These groups often focus on social, economic, and environmental issues, and they work to bring about positive change through various means such as lobbying, campaigning, and volunteering.
